A traction steam engine was one of the first powered vehicles to operate without train tracks. It was a marvel of innovation in its time and changed the agriculture industry.
Inspired by the steam engine on display in Central Park in downtown Mount Pleasant, Traction Steam empowers entrepreneurs to operate ”off the rails“ exploring new and innovative ways to utilize new technology and ideas.

STEM traditionally stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In recent years, the ”A’ has been added for Arts. This adds the element of creativity to traditional STEM ventures and serves as the spark for innovation.
Entrepreneurs are part of the creative class. Their canvas is a new business or nonprofit. Their creations move our community forward. Like traditional artists, they should be celebrated for creating something new and inspiring in our community regardless of long term success.
